ADSBA presentation was made to Algoma District School Board trustees on Tuesday night to wrap up ‘Youthesoo’.  The successful student event took place at the Essar Centre earlier this month.  Student trustees Madison MacLachlan and Maya Werner talked about highlights that ranged from local and Canadian speakers and entertainment to a message of ‘setting the stage for change.’  Slide and video presentations were shown of ‘Youthesoo’, which attracted more than 53 hundred students from across the district — some from as far away as Chapleau and Hornepayne.  Werner and MacLachlan talked about how one of the biggest parts of ‘Youthesoo’ was for everyone to meet people who have earned the title of role models, such as guest speaker Craig Kielburger and B-J and Mac Marcoux and their inspirational trek to becoming gold medal para-alpine skiiers.  Students from various schools that attended the event went away with each school represented aiming to realize one local initiative and one global initiative to set the stage for change.  In a video presentation from ‘Youthesoo’ shown to trustees, MacLachlan talked about her many experiences representing the public school board as student trustee.  Fellow student trustee Maya Werner also discussed her recent trip to Europe as a Global Citizen Scholarship Recipient.  They both encouraged the crowd of more than 53 hundred students to do what they could to change the world.  Board Chair Jennifer Sarlo concluded the presentation by saying that the public board looks forward to the positive impact resulting from ‘Youthesoo’.
