City council has given its approval to purchase property running along the north side of the Gateway property at last night’s meeting.
City staff negotiated with CN and the purchase price is 300-thousand dollars as the move was made with the relocation of the Agawa Canyon Tour Train station from the Station Mall parking lot to Mill Square.
The acquisition of the CN property is seen by city staff as an important piece of land to complete the Gateway site property and the purchase price can be factored into the negotiations with the Bawating Urban Indigenous Committee.
An environmental assessment of the Gateway property is currently being completed and the Committee is still targeting finalizing a purchase agreement with the City by this fall.
