Sault Ste. Marie, ON (2020 06 25) – Somewhere along the John Rowswell Hub Trail you will find a picture of a Canadian image or activity. Are you up for the challenge?

The Hub Trail Festival, held annually on July 1, is a community favourite bringing together various organizations. In light of COVID-19 and Provincial restrictions placed on gatherings, the 2020 festival will be expanded to include a scavenger hunt on the trail and will take place throughout the month of July. The extension gives participants plenty of time to complete the scavenger hunt while adhering to physical distancing guidelines.

“We are thrilled with the addition of a scavenger hunt over an extended timeframe for this year’s hub trail festival says,” Brent Lamming, Directory of Community Services. “This is an excellent opportunity for the community to participate in a safe manner while respecting physical distancing. The event promotes active living while utilizing the John Rowswell Hub Trail. The trail system provides easy access to citizens throughout our City.”

To celebrate 2020, participants will be challenged to find 20 images highlighting Canadian objects or activities. Locate all 20 images placed throughout various locations along the 22.5km Hub Trail and submit your answer form for a chance to win some great prizes including a $1000 bicycle from Velorution and youth bikes donated by Canadian Tire. To download a copy of the scavenger hunt, visit the City’s website. Completed scavenger hunt forms can be submitted to the Community Development Department at csd@cityssm.on.ca.

Algoma Public Health and the City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds participants to be safe while completing the scavenger hunt:
” Wash your hands before you head out and when you get home
” Change your route or time of day to avoid crowded areas
” Cyclists yield to pedestrians/walkers
” Be courteous, and move aside. Passing someone on the trail/path is not a significant risk for exposure to COVID-19.
” Maintain your distance; always keep 2 metres from those outside your household

The Hub Trail scavenger hunt begins June 29 at noon and ends August 3 giving participants plenty of time to complete.
