The Algoma District School Board is expecting to hire more teachers for the 2020-2021 school year at both the elementary and secondary levels.
At the secondary level, the Board is expecting a total enrolment just under 3-thousand (2980) which would be an increase of 18 students and result in an increase of 1.3 full time equivalent teaching positions.
At the elementary level, the Board is expecting a total enrolment of over 63-hundred (6368) which would be an increase of 121 students over projections of a year ago.
It would result in an increase of 15 classes or 15 full time equivalent teaching positions.
The Board adds that past trends indicate that kindergarten enrolment fluctuates significantly, therefore the numbers will need to be reviewed over the coming months.
