Supplied by the Sault Ste. Marie Conservation Authority…
As of Friday, March 20, 2020 the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (SSMRCA) Administrative Office will be closed, however we will be operating in modified ways.

We are taking precautions to continue to offer our services in a way that is safe for everyone. The Government and public health officials are urging all Canadians to stay home unless it is absolutely essential to go out and to practice social distancing.

The Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (SSMRCA) is committed to providing comprehensive Watershed Management Services to our municipalities, partners and residents during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

All of our services will continue:
” Our staff will be working remotely
” All communications will occur via telephone 705-946-8530 or nature@ssmrca.ca
” Permit submission will happen electronically. Please contact Christine Ropeter by email for more information about how to submit a permit application
” We will make every effort to maintain planning and permit review timelines; delays may be expected where site visits are required
” Property and Legal Inquiry requests can only be submitted by phone to Marlene McKinnon at 705-946-8530 ext.#1004 or by email
” All non-essential meetings are cancelled

The Flood Forecasting and Warning program continues to operate and the Flood Control Channels are being monitored in order to help keep people and property safe from flooding.

The Drinking Water Source Protection program is operating as planned.

The trails in our conservation areas will remain open for passive use, please remember to practice social distancing, even out in nature. Spending time in nature reduces stress, anxiety, and improves general physical and mental health.

The SSMRCA is monitoring the pandemic and response closely and will provide updates on changes to operations as they become available. Your patience, support and cooperation are appreciated.
