Council provided its approval at last night’s meeting supporting a city staff recommendation to go with a southwestern Ontario company in providing and installing a new video scoreboard and clock for GFL Memorial Gardens at an approximate cost of 560-thousand dollars.
London-based OES is a well recognized brand throughout North America and has provided scoreboards for professional and amateur sports teams including for 45% of OHL venues.
The Greyhounds club will pick up 100% of the upfront costs and the city will forgo its 10% of the advertising revenue from the scoreboard for a 10-year time-frame.
The City will also be responsible for the maintenance costs.
Included in the purchase price is an auxiliary clock and the installation of the new video-board will occur at the end of this season and will be ready for the opening of next hockey season.
