8 teams including three rinks from Sault Ste. Marie will be competing in the men’s field at the Northern Ontario Curling Championships that open today in New Liskeard.
The Jacobs rink from the Community First Curling Centre has won nine of the last ten championships including five in a row.
Back in 2014, Team Jacobs didn’t compete at the championships as they were preparing for the Sochi Olympics.
The winner of the Northern Ontario Championship will qualify for the Brier which will be held in Kingston beginning February 29th..
Seven teams make up the women’s field at the same competition in New Liskeard with the winner qualifying for the Scott Tournament of Hearts which gets underway in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan beginning on February 15th.
