The Sault’s unemployment rate for last month came in at 6.7% which is below the monthly average for the year.
Over the course of 2019, Sault Ste. Marie had an unemployment rate in the double digits for five straight months from May until September and finished with an average monthly jobless rate of 8.6%.
The participation rate last month which measures both the number of employed combined with those unemployed but actively looking for work came in at under 60% at 58.3%.
Also over the course of the year, the average employment level came in at just over 36-thousand.
