With the Christmas party season approaching, area police agencies remind drivers that the Festive Ride Campaign is underway once again.
The head of traffic services for city police Sergeant Ray Magnan described last year’s campaign as successful but added the ultimate goal is to go through the campaign which stretches into the new year with no impaired charges…

Once charged with excess blood alcohol or refusing a breath test, you are subject to an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 7 day vehicle impoundment.
For drivers under the age of 22 as well as G1, G2 and commercial drivers any alcohol or cannabis in their system means an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and 7 day vehicle impoundment.
Sergeant Magnan says it is not just alcohol that police will be monitoring—–they also be looking for drug impairment.
He says they use a saliva testing device to determine the presence of cannabis for those that legally can’t have any in their system and for older more experienced drivers they would face standard testing…
