Supplied by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service…

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to advise the public of the following road closures that will take place on Saturday July 20, 2019 in order to facilitate the 98th Rotary Community Day Parade.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. Queen Street East will be closed from Elizabeth Street to Church Street.  This area will be used as a staging area for the Parade and will be closed until 12:00 p.m.

In addition the lower portion of Church Street north to Queen Street East will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

The parade route will be on Queen Street East from Church Street to Gore Street. That section of roadway will be closed at 10:30 a.m. and will re-open around 1:00 p.m. upon the completion of the parade.

In order to keep the parade route free from obstructions, there will be no parking on Queen Street East from Church Street to Andrew Street starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. At 1:00 p.m. this temporary parking restriction will end and vehicles will be allowed to lawfully park in the area.

Any vehicle found on the parade route after 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning will be towed from the area at the owner’s expense.

Also, please remember due to the construction on Bay Street motorists will see an increase in traffic delays in the area during and after the parade.

For anyone visiting the city via the International Bridge wanting to travel to Highway 17 East or North should utilize Carmen’s Way and follow appropriate highway signage.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and wish all a happy and safe Rotaryfest weekend.
