OPP news release…

(THESSALON, ON) – On December 13, 2018, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began to investigate three break and enters that occurred on Feltham Road, Walker Road and Scheuermann Highway in the Town of Thessalon and area.

During one of the break-ins, a witness observed two males with a white Chevrolet Silverado 4X4, short box, regular cab pickup with a 6 cylinder, 4.3 litre engine. The year of the pickup is anywhere from 2007 to 2014.  The witness was also able to provide a licence plate for the pickup which was not registered to that vehicle.

Later on that evening at approximately 8:00 p.m., OPP responded to a vehicle fire on Scheuermann Highway. Scheuermann Highway is the old Highway 17 which is located approximately five kilometres west of the Town of Thessalon behind the village of Nestorville. This vehicle matched the description of the pickup involved in the break and enter earlier in the day. The licence plates were located at the end of a bush road and in the rear of the pickup police located a 9.9 Johnson outboard motor, a burnt toaster, one black and blue strapped NARWHAL canvas bag with burnt tools and gold tube snow shoes with leather supports and orange ties.

With the assistance of the OPP Forensic Art Unit a composite drawing was completed of one of the male suspects.

This investigation is continuing with the assistance from the Forensic Identification Services Unit (FIS).
