City council was told at last night’s meeting that the provincial government is pulling its funding for the City’s strategic community development plan known as Future SSM.
Late last week, the provincial government informed the City that it would no longer provide financial support for the project.
The province will have provided funds to meet their one-third share to cover most of the first year of the three year project.
NOHFC had previously approved 1.4-million dollars for the project.
FedNor has said verbally to city officials that their commitment won’t be impacted by the province’s decision.
Mayor Provenzano assured city council that there is enough money to move the project forward and Future SSM staff have been told their employment is stable.
