The Sault Police Service in partnership with the Sault and area Drug Strategy and local CrimeStoppers announced this morning the launch of a local initiative which is aiming to reduce the amount of crystal meth that hits the streets.
The partners have taken a national program known as the Meth Watch Program and made it a local initiative as community members will be encouraged to report the theft or suspicious sales of what can be common household items used in the illicit manufacture of methamphetamine.
George Wright is a member of and a community consultant for the Drug Strategy and he talks about what could be considered suspicious…

Wright says local residents will be able to report such suspicious activity anonymously to CrimeStoppers.
The program is designed to promote cooperation between retailers, members of the public and law enforcement and there are retail establishments that have already signed on to the program.
