Council gave its approval at last night’s meeting for the city to enter into an agreement with the Canadian Red Cross for a home care assistance program for seniors who require assistance.
Part of the program involves snow removal and Ward 2 councillor Susan Myers wants to see that portion of the program enhanced.
She’s calling for an additional 15-thousand dollars to be committed to that portion of the program——-that would be on top of the 50-thousand dollars the City has provided for the entire program.
The additional money will be considered at budget time.
The program will be delivered by the Red Cross supported by the Victoria Order of Nurses and March of Dimes.
The VON would be responsible for snow removal and grass cutting for eligible seniors and housekeeping services would be carried out by both the March of Dimes and Red Cross.
