a changing leaf

The posted pic is of my wee maple tree in the backyard. I noticed one single leaf had changed to red, a sure sign there will soon be a bite in the air with the walks to Station Mall becoming shorter and fewer for me! LOL

Had one hell of a time focusing on the morning show today, as we mourn the loss of two of the nicest Country Music Stars on the same day.
Friday was a rough one as we learned of the accidental death of half of the great group ‘Montgomery Gentry.’
Troy’s helicopter crashed as he was leaving to perform. The crew hovered for several minutes by, death would come following a crash. Gentry was only 50 years young and stars react to his untimely passing.

Montgomery Gentry star Troy Gentry was tragically killed on Friday in a helicopter crash. The crash occurred in Medford, New Jersey ahead of Montgomery Gentry’s show at the Flying W Airport. Troy was 50

Stars React …

Sheryl Crow: “So sad to hear the news of Troy Gentry. My prayers are with his family and friends.”

Travis Tritt: “I’m in total shock and disbelief over the news that my friend Troy Gentry was just killed in a helicopter crash!!! I just saw him days ago!”

Brad Paisley: “God bless you Troy Gentry. Heartbroken and in disbelief.”

Blake Shelton: “I am heart broken”

Jake Owen: “sad day for country music. Troy Gentry and Don Williams have passed and that makes my heart hurt. Don was my hero and Troy was my friend.”

AND a close personal idol to me and my bride, we lost the Gentle Giant Don Williams, at ager 78.
His hits were endless, timeless and pure country. Don made a special appearance in a show way back when I first started as your morning show host at Country 104.3, plus, I had the distinct honour of MCing his Soo Memorial Gardens show.
The place was packed and I remember the audience just exploding after each hit and yelling ‘We love you Don!!!!!”
Williams, shyly and quietly said back, “Mercy.’
He moved his one leg like ‘Kermit the Frog in Rainbow Connection , I recall fondly.
That’s about as excited as the Gentle Giant got…..ever..
I sing ‘Lay Down Beside Me’, all the time, to my lovely bride.

Watching Hurricanes rip through Texas and then Florida with Harvey and Irma, has made me realize, how damn lucky we are to live where we do. I walked to the Station Mall in the sun and all along the route, I counted my many blessings.
At press time today, I still have not heard from my Uncle Cliff and Aunt Monica at Sarasota, although we did send thoughts prayers and positive vibes last night.

There were over 8 million Floridians without power…..more than 1.5 have been restored to power.
Close to 6 million are in the dark this morning.
Naples took the brunt of the wind. gusting over 150 miles per hour.
Daytona beach suffered a major ‘storm surge’, which was completely unexpected, as did Jacksonville, seeing more flooding in their city, than anytime in recorded history!

Congrats to #brettkissel on winning at the CCMAS last night, Meghan Patrick, High Valley, Dallas Smith and the rest of the winners.

We chatted about THAT great news all morning long.

Thanks to TIMMYS and all the SMILE cookies….locally, the funds go to ARCH Hospice and Algoma Autism Foundation members.

You’ve still got the rest of the day to purchase yours at all Tim Horton’s locations here in the Soo, while supplies last!
