International Bridge Closure and Evacuation

The International Bridge was closed to traffic and the area was evacuated yesterday afternoon following the discovery of a small potentially explosive device during a secondary vehicle search at the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Officers with the city police Explosives Dispoal Unit were called in and determined that the item was an inert replica grenade.
The bridge was shut down for about an hour mid-afternoon.
City police say the investigation is continuing.
