(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) Monday, February 6, 2017 – On behalf of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, the Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, Terry Sheehan, announces $100,000 in funding to provide lighting for the baseball field at Strathclair Sports Complex.

The funding for the Strathclair Sports Complex comes as part of the Canada 150 Infrastructure Program and is delivered through FedNor. The project will involve installing new wiring and controls in order to install LED lighting to Slo-pitch field A, located at Strathclair Sports Complex.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada’s coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history.

“I’m pleased to announce today’s investment, as it will allow more adults to play slo-pitch in the Riding of Sault Ste. Marie. Thanks to these enhancements, the Strathclair Sports Complex will continue to contribute to the overall well-being of our community, including health benefits and increased opportunities for tourism from hosting tournaments,” Sheehan said.
