SAULT STE MARIE, On. – On Saturday, May 23 approximately 30 soldiers from 49th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery (49 RCA) will march along the Hub trail to the downtown core.

Soldiers will be seen marching with Service Rifles on sidewalks and trails. Following the march military equipment will be on display in the Bondar Pavillion which will be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Artillery Day is celebrated annually. In 1952, the Colonel Commandant, Major-General H.O.N. Brownfield, sought and received permission to adopt the Royal Artillery birthdate (26 May 1716) as Artillery Day for The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery.

49th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery is an Army reserve unit located in Sault Ste. Marie which is part of 33 Canadian Brigade Group, headquartered in Ottawa.
