2014 Orazietti cropA new Forensic Pathology Unit lab is being established at the Sault Area Hospital.  Sault MPP David Orazietti made that announcement at the SAH on Tuesday, which also includes 100 thousand dollars in annual funding from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.  That money will go towards funding the lab.  One of the main goals of the lab will be to train future forensic pathologists while ensuring the north has access to high-quality services.  Another objective is it will provide medico-legal autopsy services for the Algoma District and work closely with the regional coroner and police services. Sudbury is home to the north’s only other Forensic Pathology Unit — there are seven in all in Ontario.
