Ben Pino’s proposed shopping centre development on Great Northern Rd. would stretch from Second Line to Industrial Drive, directly opposite to the Walmart entrance SooToday

A rezoning application from Ben Pino for a major commercial development on Great Northern Road was approved by city council last night.
The project involves an almost 60-thousand square foot grocery store, an over 18-thousand square foot pharmacy and over 28-thousand square feet of other commercial space which may include a restaurant.
The vacant land involved is approximately 3.6 hectares and includes the west side of Great Northern Road between Second Line and Industrial Park Crescent.
The main entrance into the development would align with the existing access roadway into Walmart on Great Northern Road and traffic lights will be installed there with the applicant picking up the cost.
Council was told the shopping centre would create 100 full and part-time jobs.
