The City of Sault Ste. Marie’s share of provincial gas tax revenue is 1.1-million dollars which is equal to what has been provided over the last few years.
Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca announced this morning that a total of over 357-million dollars will be provided to support 105 municipalities which is 6 more municipalities compared to last year.
The funding is used by municipalities to enhance and expand transit systems.
Blind River’s share this year comes in at over 10-thousand dollars and Wawa’s share is almost 25-thousand dollars.
2-cents per litre of the gas taxes collected by the province goes to municipalities and that will go up to 2.5 cents per litre in 2019-20 and the increase will not impact prices at the pump.
