High repair costs and low membership has the Sault Ste. Marie Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 considering a move from its present location at 96 Great Northern Road.
Members of the Branch at a special meeting in late November voted to downsize while maintaining its veterans programs.
Branch President Wilma Oliver says she expects that they will be moving and it is something the Branch will look into beginning in the New Year.
It is estimated that the building is in need of repairs in the 500-thousand dollar range.
The building was constructed in 1967 at a time when the local Branch had 3-thousand members—now there is less than 600 and the space isn’t needed.
