Sault Ste. Marie drivers fared well in a safe driving survey by Allstate Canada.
Allstate is out with its 9th annual safe driving study and in general terms, the study found collisions are still on the rise in Canada.
Ontario saw an increase in collision claims of 4.7% however it was also home to the safest community—Hanmer in the Sudbury area had a frequency rate of 3.65%.
Sault Ste. Marie ranked 18th out of 93 communities with a rate of 4.69%.
Seven Ontario communities made it into the top 10–Brockville finished 10th at 4.3%.
The study covers a period from July 1st 2015 through June 30th this year—-the collision frequency refers to a percentage of vehicles insured by Allstate Canada involved in a collision that resulted in a claim.

Additionally the study found that Fridays are the day with the highest number of collision claims nationally—-it also found that the most serious claims were caused by accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.
