It took three run-off votes and then a tiebreaking draw of two names to decide a new councillor to fill the ward six vacancy at last night’s city council meeting.
The tiebreaker was needed between Ozzie Grandinetti and Luca Robibaro when after the third run-off vote of council, the two were tied 6 all.
Grandinetti’s name was drawn and he will serve the remainder of the term until the fall of 2018.
10 people in all came forward looking to fill the vacancy created when Ross Romano became our new MPP after the Sault byelection at the beginning of this month.
Council decided to go with the appointment process rather then hold a byelection.
