Toronto, ON – Congratulations to Barclay Scott of Sault Ste. Marie for winning $1 million with LOTTO MAX MAXMILLIONS in the February 10, 2017 draw.

“I’ve been playing LOTTO MAX since the game launched,” shared Barclay while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he picked up his winnings. “I won small prizes in the past. A few bucks here and there – until now!”

Barclay usually purchases a single ticket for the LOTTO MAX draw with his favourite combination of numbers. “Since the jackpot was so high, I decided to pick up an extra ticket with a Quick Pick. It was the ticket with my regular numbers that was the winner.”

The night following the draw, Barclay found out he had a winning ticket. “I returned to my regular store and used the ticket checker. Right there on the screen I saw the words, ‘Big Winner’ followed by the number one and a lot of zeros. I was thrilled thinking I won $1,000.” Next, Barclay approached the retailer. “I asked, ‘Is the electricity at the store working properly because the ticket checker might be acting up.’ I was told the electricity was just fine. The retailer scanned my ticket at the terminal so he could check for me. Suddenly, the machine shut down.”

Barclay and the retailer were surprised as they waited for OLG to call the store. “I’m a regular lottery player who dreams about what it would be like to win the lottery. I never thought it would actually happen to me.”

Plans are underway for Barclay’s windfall. “This win means that every dream I have ever had now has the potential to come true. Life just got a whole lot sweeter. I’m a fighter and survived 8 heart attacks and bypass surgery. I’ve always wanted to go to Cuba and now I will. Hawaii is also on my bucket list.” The former transport truck driver is also planning to return to some of his favourite destinations. “I always liked California. This time I will go back as a tourist, take my time and see all the sights. Finally, I would love to move to a place somewhere on the Great Lakes, hang out with my buddies on my new pontoon boat or take off for the afternoon into the countryside on my new 4-wheeler,” concluded Barclay.

Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario LOTTO MAX players have won over $3 billion in prizes, including 48 jackpot wins and 443 winning MAXMILLIONS tickets from all across the province.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Great Northern Road in Sault Ste. Marie.
