OPP   East Algoma OPP news release…
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On March 31, 2016, at 4:05 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home invasion at a residence on Archambeault Street in the Town of Blind River.
By the time police attended, the suspects had left the residence. Investigation determined that four males broke into a residence and assaulted and threatened the homeowner. Before fleeing, the suspects damaged personal property and stole a television.  The Sault Ste. Marie Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the East Algoma Crime Unit were called in to assist officers.  As a result of the investigation, four males have been arrested and charged.
William James NEIL, 59 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
” Robbery with Theft, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
” Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 5, 2016.
Michael Albert NEVILLE, 46 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
” Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm (X4) contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
” Assault (X2), contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code;
” Theft Over $5000, contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code;
” Theft Under $5000 (X3), contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code;
” Robbery with Theft, (X2),contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;
” Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence (X2), contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
” Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.
He was remanded into custody at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie.
Raymond John YOUNG, 25 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:
” Robbery with Theft, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
” Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
He was remanded into custody at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie.
A 19 year old male from Spragge, Ontario, who cannot be named because of charges relating to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with:
” Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm (X4) contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
” Robbery with Theft, (X2),contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;
” Break, Enter Dwelling House-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
” Break, Enter a Place-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;
” Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1(a) of the Criminal Code;
” Obstruct Justice, contrary to section 139(2) of the Criminal Code;
” Resist Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code;
” Escape Lawful Custody, contrary to section 145(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and
” Fail to Comply with Recognizance(X2), contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.
He has been remanded into custody at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie.
Also related to this incident, on April 8, 2016, at 2:40 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on Hutchison Avenue, attempting to arrest one of the males involved with the home invasion.  A female interfered with the arrest and released the male from police custody.
Police apprehended the male and as a result of this incident, Nakita CARDINAL, 18 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
” Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code; and
” Rescue or Permitting Escape, contrary to section 147(a) of the Criminal Code
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 9, 2016.
