 The Sault Ste. Marie Airport saw a record number of passengers travel in 2015 increasing 3.2% from the 2014 level to reach the new record level of 201,347 passengers.  This historical record since SSMADC ownership began in 1998 is a major increase from the record low of 121,991 in 2010 an improvement of 65.1% from that historic low in a short five year period.

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport also saw a record level of aircraft movements in 2015 eclipsing the previous 2012 high of 66,009; with a 2015 total of 66,693 a 1.7% increase over 2014.

Terry Bos President & CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation stated that; “With the record level achieved in 2015 the SSMADC attained its goal of 200,000 passengers per year, a celebration of this event took place in December after the record was achieved for a 12-month period in November 2015.”

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport is home to four airlines that all contribute to this success.  Air Canada Express offers daily flights to Toronto Pearson Airport with connections world wide.  Bearskin Airlines provides flights to Thunder Bay and Sudbury with connections to many locations in Northern Ontario and Manitoba.  Porter Airlines provides daily service to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport with connections to their route network in Ontario through to Eastern Canada and the North Eastern United States.  Sunwing Airlines provides winter destination get a ways for residents of the Sault with direct flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on Fridays for the 2015/2016 winter season.
