(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On July 28, 2015 the Ontario Provincial Police of the East Algoma OPP in Blind River was advised of a fraudulent phone call received by a local resident.  The complainant reports a male caller contacted him and requested donations for the volunteer fire department in Blind River.  The Fire Department was contacted and it was confirmed that the call was fraudulent.  Fortunately, the complainant did not donate any money.
The OPP urges the public to use caution when receiving telephone calls. If you discover that you have become a victim of a fraud or scam, contact your local police immediately.
